Since 2011, the CUNY capital program has completed 12 new facilities comprising nearly 1.9 million square feet, including: Hunter College’s Silberman School of Social Work and its new MFA facility; John Jay College’s Building Expansion; the New York Simulation Center in partnership with New York University; the new CUNY School of Law facility; Bronx Community College’s North Hall and Library Building; Borough of Manhattan Community College’s Fiterman Hall; Lehman College’s New Science Facility; Stella and Charles Guttmann Community College building; and new childcare centers at Bronx Community College and Lehman College. Additionally, the CUNY Graduate Center apartments and the first residence hall at The College of Staten Island have opened.

In 2014, the University anticipates opening the Advanced Science Research Center complex on the City College campus and an expansion of the Leonard and Clare Tow Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College. Another major new facility is in the early stages of construction: the 350,000-square-foot Academic Building I at New York City College of Technology.

Designs for a number of major new facilities are ongoing, including: Hunter College’s Science and Health Professions Building; York College’s Academic Village and Conference Center; The College of Staten Island’s Interdisciplinary High Performance Computational Center; the new Roosevelt Hall at Brooklyn College; and Lehman College’s Nursing Education, Research and Practice Center.

Physical master plan updates have been initiated or completed for Baruch College, Brooklyn College, City College, College of Staten Island, Hostos Community College, LaGuardia Community College, Lehman College, Queens College and York College.

There is no question that New York City profits substantially from CUNY’s capital program. For every $10 million spent in construction, it is estimated that 90 jobs are created. The University’s construction program is generating an estimated 14,000 jobs over the lifetime of these projects.
