Our goal at the CUNY CAT is to encourage and support industry/University collaborations on fundamental research projects. As several engineering and science faculty have begun commercializing their own research discoveries, there is an unmet need for the placement of faculty-initiated industrial entities. As a result, our faculty must locate to off-campus commercial incubators. The absence of a local, faculty-focused incubator has placed undue financial and temporal burdens on our entrepreneurial faculty.
For this reason, members of the CUNY CAT have been assisting in the development of the City College Engineering and Science Technology Incubator (CCESTI) to address this immediate need of our research faculty. It is anticipated that, in the long term, the CCESTI will serve as a working model for the establishment of a large Entrepreneurship Center, which will meet the training and industrial needs of the New York City basic and applied-research business communities.
