CUNYfirst - How To Apply Online


 

Step 1-Search for a Position (login not required)

Select Search Job Listings on the Employment page.  There may be a slight delay while the page is loading.

Choose a job category (Faculty, Executive, Managerial, Support, and/or Information Technology) or choose More Options to Search for CUNY Jobs to search by date, location, etc.

From the job listings screen: 

  • Click on any column heading to sort that column
  • Click on the position title to see details
  • Choose Return to Previous Page to browse other listings
  • Choose Apply Now to apply; Email to Friend to mail the posting; or Add to Job Cart if you may want to apply to multiple postings
  • Note the Closing Date on the posting.  Due to possible outages, we suggest you do not wait until the final day to apply.  Postings are generally removed at 1:00 am on the day following the Closing Date.

 

Step 2-Login (or Register) to Apply

If you have a user name and password, enter it and click Login.  If you have not registered, click Register Now to create a user name and a password (note for future reference) and click Register.  You can also Login before searching the postings.

Login or Register will bring you to the Resume Page (Step 3).

 

Step 3- enter data and Upload Document

If this is your first application, enter Name, Address, Phone Number and Type (Home, Business, etc.), E-mail and Type and then Save.    It’s particularly important to provide your email address.

It’s also important that you upload supporting information, such as a resume and cover letter.  All items requested in the posting must be uploaded as ONE document of 20 MB or less in size, with a file name that does not exceed 12 characters.  We ask for a Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx), Adobe Acrobat (.pdf), Text (.txt) or Rich Text Format (.rtf) file.   If you have previously applied to a position with us, you might check the uploaded file to be sure the cover letter and any other materials match the requirements of the posting.

Click Upload a New Resume. Click Continue.

Click Browse to select the document for upload, click Upload and Continue.

 

Step 4-Submit Application

Click Submit.

We ask for self-identification data; this information is not attached to your application.  This is optional; you may click on I decline to provide my self-identification if you do not wish to provide this data.

Choose a value from the Gender and Ethnicity drop-down menus.   Click on I agree to these terms and then Submit to complete the application process. 

If there were any other instructions in the job posting, such as sending additional materials via email, remember to go back and follow those instructions.
