Appeal Procedure
Procedure for Stage I Appeal of Test Results or Disqualification
You may file a “Stage I” appeal of your disqualification from an examination or failure of an examination. You must provide supporting evidence for your reason(s) for appealing either disqualification or failure. If you provide such supporting evidence, we will re-evaluate your disqualification and/or test results.
In your appeal letter, you must provide all information necessary to support your basis for an appeal . Failure to present such information will result in no action being taken on your Stage I appeal .
Your Stage I appeal must be in writing postmarked no later than two weeks from the date of the letter notifying you of your disqualification and/or test result. Send your written appeal to:

You may be asked to provide proof of your having filed your appeal to the University; it is your responsibility to retain a copy of your appeal letter for your records.
Procedure for Stage II Appeal of Test Results
If your Stage 1 appeal is rejected you may appeal this decision. This is called a “Stage II” appeal.
You must file a Stage 1 appeal and receive a decision before filing a Stage II appeal.
Your stage ll appeal must go directly to the CUNY Civil Service Commission
To file a Stage II appeal, you must file the appeal in writing. Your Stage ll appeal must be postmarked no later than 30 days from the date of your Stage 1 Appeal rejection letter.

Your appeal must contain the Stage 1 Appeal decision that is being questioned, supporting evidence that you wish the Commission to consider AND a statement of the relief you seek.
Failing to present such evidence may result in no action being taken by the Commission .
Note: any allegation of an error on your examination shall open your entire application record to review.
