the Admission review process

The admission review process provides us with an opportunity to examine your entire high school/secondary school academic record, which includes: academic units, grades/grade trends, and standardized test scores (SAT, ACT and NY State Regents). To be admitted into a four-year college, you must demonstrate college-level readiness in reading, writing and mathematics. Please review the Freshman Admission Profile <pdf> to get an idea of the mean grade point average (GPA) and SAT scores for last year's admitted freshman class.

GED Students

• The GED test score is one of several components evaluated during the admission review; you must also meet the academic requirements as outlined above. See the minimum GED test scores <pdf> required by each CUNY college.

To begin, you will need to download the Admission Application Worksheet for General Freshman Applicants <pdf>. The worksheet provides step-by-step instructions on how to apply to CUNY a s a general freshman applicant. Review and complete the worksheet by filling in all blank fields and writing down notes to help you accurately complete your application. Next, create a CUNY Portal account and submit the admission application. Finally, review what is needed after you have applied to CUNY here.

General Freshman Applicants

• Apply online to as many as six CUNY colleges with one application and one non-refundable application-processing fee.*

Note:
*The University is pleased to announce The New Community College at CUNY - an exciting new opportunity for students. Beginning on October 17, The New Community College will be available as an option on the CUNY application for Fall 2012 admission. At that time, applicants who included a community college on their CUNY application will be notified of the option to modify their applications and include The New Community College as one of their choice colleges.
