Filing Date for the 2014-2015 FAFSA

Filing Date for the 2014-2015 FAFSA

Beginning January 1, 2014 you could submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2014-2015 school year. The FAFSA is the application for federal student assistance. You do not need to have been admitted to CUNY to apply for financial aid. Applying online by going to www.fafsa.gov . For assistance in completing your FAFSA call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243).

Send in the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1, 2014 . You do not have to wait until your taxes are done, although it's better to do your taxes early and file your FAFSA after that. If you file before your taxes are completed it is ok to use estimates of your income and you will have an opportunity to correct any information later.

If you applied for aid the previous year you can fill out a Renewal FAFSA by going to www.fafsa.gov. This application contains information from the 2013-2014 FAFSA. You will need your Federal Student Aid PIN. If you have previously received a PIN but have lost or forgotten it you can request a duplicate PIN at www.pin.ed.gov.
Your eligibility for financial aid may change, especially if you have a different number of family members in college. Your financial aid package also depends on your making satisfactory academic progress toward a degree, such as earning a minimum number of credits and achieving a minimum GPA.
