Queensborough Community College ASAP

2010 New York Needs You (NYNY) Fellows Recipient

My name is Eve Johnson and I'll be coming to a television near you, very soon. I am a college student at Queensborough Community College through the grace of ASAP.  When I graduate, I will declare a major in journalism and plan to continue my education at Purchase College, State University of New York. I dream of studying abroad in either England or France.  I was raised in NYC my whole life and I have lived in both Brooklyn and Queens. I moved to Queens five years ago to attend high school at Forest Hills. It was there that my musical passions flourished as I played the viola for my school orchestra.

My true passion is creative writing and as of recently, screenwriting. Ever since I was at least six years old living in Brooklyn I have had creative tendencies. I used to write stories and draw pictures, then sell them as books to my parents for twenty-five cents a piece. When I was ten I saved enough money to buy my first video camera.  Horror has always been an intriguing genre for me and I look forward to the opportunity to make a horror film one day.

Being a part of the New York Needs You fellowship has truly changed my life.  NYNY gives me the inspiration to follow my dreams and has also helped me to clarify my goals.  I now understand the process of becoming successful as the fellowship has taught me how to apply all that I learn to real life.  I wouldn't be surprised if every fellow were to become wildly successful and happy because the program is designed to provide the tools to do so. As a NYNY fellow I am truly surrounded by big dreamers and contagious optimism.
