Kingsborough Community College ASAP '12

What, in your opinion, makes ASAP unique?

One reason why ASAP is unique is the linked classes that we have, which allow the students to get closer as a group and help students stay on task with projects and assignments. Another reason is the extra guidance we get from our ASAP advisors and staff to help us complete our semester and give us the right classes for our majors to graduate in a timely fashion. We also have a personal counselor that helps us find internships that relate to our majors.

What impact has ASAP had on your education?

ASAP has a great impact in my life because of the free monthly metro cards I receive, which prevents worries and stress about buying my own metro cards.  ASAP also covers the book costs for my classes each semester.

What is one of the most memorable moments you’ve had as an ASAP student?

One of the most memorable moments I’ve had as an ASAP student was the summer seminar we had as incoming freshmen before ASAP cohort 4 started classes in the fall of 2010. We did performing arts dancing and singing activities, which helped us bond and make good friends. That experience made me more comfortable and confident about starting my first semester at Kingsborough Community College.

Why did you join ASAP?

I joined the ASAP program to take advantage of all the great benefits they have to offer to help me graduate on time, including the free ASAP tutoring, and the ASAP student development class.

What are your future plans?

My future plans are to apply for scholarships and continue my education at a four year college.
