Current student, Sarah Lawrence College
What were your early impressions of ASAP, and how did they change over time?
From the very beginning I was very impressed with the attention I received from the ASAP advisors and staff.
What was the most rewarding thing about being an ASAP student?
The most rewarding thing about being an ASAP student was the ability to be a part of something much bigger than my own personal story. As an ASAP student, I felt that I was a part of a community of students who wanted to challenge expectations and reach for higher goals.
What, in your opinion, makes ASAP unique?
ASAP is unique due to the personal nature of the relationships built during the time spent in the program. The ability to build a personal and professional relationship with my advisor allowed me to feel more comfortable talking to her about everything that affected my education.
Looking back, how do you think that ASAP impacted your life?
ASAP pointed me in the right direction and didn't abandon me after doing so. The ASAP advisors and staff continuously provided support throughout my entire journey at LaGuardia Community College. That feeling of support gave me confidence to succeed.
What is one of the most memorable moments you had as an ASAP student?
My most memorable moment as an ASAP student has to be when I gave my advisor the news of being accepted to 7 out of the 7 universities I applied to. It was a special moment for both of us.
What are your career goals and/or future plans?
I’ve decided to attend Sarah Lawrence College in the upcoming fall semester. At Sarah Lawrence I intend to focus on sociology and psychology. After obtaining my undergrad degree I plan on continuing to graduate school and focusing on educational psychology.
