This workshop provided university personnel in a variety of positions an opportunity to examine the increasing difficulties they face in dealing with students (inbound & outbound) that are visiting their campuses who have serious mental health issues. Visiting students with mental health issues pose a particularly difficult issue for host institutions in that there are both cultural differences and different protocols for dealing with mental health issues. In addition, students with mental health issues who study abroad offer a unique set of challenges to both the sending and host institutions.
