CUNY CareerPATH was led by Kingsborough Community College and the Central Office of Academic Affairs and funded by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration’s Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training grant program.

 

Health care

CareerPATH included occupational health care trainings in Community Health Worker, Direct Care Counselor, EMT, or Medical Office Assistant.

Culinary Arts & Hospitality

Kingsborough Community College offered a Culinary Arts Certificate program, providing hands-on training in food preparation; and a Food & Beverage Certificate program, providing an overview of NYC's essential tourism and hospitality industry, including an introduction to basic catering skills.

Early Childhood Education

Bronx Community College offered courses in early childhood education as full and part-time substitute and afterschool caregivers, certified or licensed teacher aides, teacher assistants and teachers.

Manufacturing

New York City College of Technology offered credit-level programs to individuals pursuing careers in NYC's revitalized manufacturing sector. Industry-recognized credentials and/or associate degrees in Green Advanced Manufacturing and certificates in Digital Fabrication were offered.

Business

The Entrepreneurship Program at the College of Staten Island prepared individuals to develop a small business and/or manage an existing small business.

CUNY CareerPATH was a low to no-cost program supporting adult workers without jobs and adult workers looking to advance their careers by providing opportunities (1) to earn both industry-recognized credentials and college credits and (2) to find jobs and enter college in one of five fields: Business, Education, Food Service & Hospitality, Health Care, and Manufacturing.

In order to ensure career advancement and successful college transition, CUNY CareerPATH participants were given career-focused academic and English language skills instruction, occupational training leading to industry-recognized credentials and college credits, academic advising, career coaching and employment assistance.
