The cornerstone of The Teacher Academy is the partnership between CUNY and the New York City Department of Education, begun with generous funding from the Carroll and Milton Petrie Foundation as part of the New York City Partnership for Teacher Excellence. This partnership brings together leaders from across CUNY with educators from the Department of Education and specially selected public schools to collaborate closely on all aspects of The Teacher Academy. This helps ensure that Teacher Academy students develop the critical content knowledge in math and science they need and the skills to teach effectively in New York City public schools upon graduation.
