CAT's program staff has traveled the world, sharing its expertise and spreading the word about the potential of educational theatre and drama. CAT's ability to develop special projects has become a central plank of its mission to disseminate the work, training and supporting others in new ways of reaching young people. These projects also provide exciting opportunities to explore programming options not possible within the four walls of the classroom and to stimulate new growth and creative energy for CAT itself.

The New York City
Student Shakespeare Festival

The New York City Student Shakespeare Festival (NYCSSF) is a teacher development program produced by the Paul A. Kaplan Center for Educational Drama at the CUNY/Creative Arts Team. Founded in 1994 to encourage students to celebrate William Shakespeare's work, the Festival program features a mentor model of professional development for teachers and culminates with student performances at a major Off Broadway playhouse.

International Collaborations

Partnerships that help artists and educators meet their own local challenges have been formed with groups and organizations in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Japan, Jamaica and the Middle East.

In 2008 alone, the CAT Youth Theatre participated in an international youth theatre festival in Liverpool and our ELTA Program provided teacher training to students at the United Arab Emirates University.

Corporate CATalysts Program

Through the Corporate CATalysts Program, CAT designs performance improvement programs for corporations and other agencies. These programs cater to the specific needs of each client, but all share the common objectives.

Among many others, CAT has worked with such companies as Chase Manhattan, LizClaiborne, and New York University's School of Law.
