Dear Friends,

CUNY welcomes students for the new academic year with many new facilities across the City, ensuring it remains one of our country’s leading public education systems.

It serves more than 500,000 students each year. Enrollment at CUNY’s community colleges has increased by half over the last decade, which means the system continues to fulfill its mission of providing a quality, affordable education as a pathway to success. During these challenging economic times, it’s more important than ever that the doors of opportunity remain open to our City’s diverse communities.

As a graduate of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, I know firsthand the value of a CUNY education. Graduates will go on to excel in the industries of today and help build the economy of tomorrow. They will strengthen our government and enrich our neighborhoods.

I look forward to seeing what great things my fellow CUNY graduates will achieve in the years to come.

Sincerely,

Scott M. Stringer
Manhattan Borough President
