Lower East Side Solar Empowerment Zone

The Lower East Side (LES) Solar Empowerment zone stretches from East 14th/15th streets to the north, Broadway to the west, Canal and Market streets to the south, and the East River to the East. The zone includes all or parts of Chinatown, the East Village, Alphabet City, Little Italy, Nolita, the Bowery, and Soho.

Although the Lower East Side is perhaps best known for its low rise tenements, the building types in this area also include mixed use commercial, and new high-rise apartments and condos. Map <pdf>

The NYC Solar America City Partnership will work with local government officials, community-based organizations and the business community to host events and educational workshops.

New and existing solar installations in the Zone will be eligible for free data monitoring systems as well as a variety of other benefits.
