Downtown Brooklyn Solar Empowerment Zone
The Downtown Brooklyn Zone is roughly bounded by East River to the west, 5th Avenue/Fort Greene Park to the east, East River to the north and Gowanus/3rd Street to the south. The building types in this area include everything from industrial warehouses around the Gowanus Canal and in Red Hook to brownstones in Landmark Historic Districts. Map <pdf>
The Zone contains all or part of the following neighborhoods: Fulton Ferry, Dumbo, Vinegar Hill, Brooklyn Heights, Downtown Brooklyn, Carroll Gardens, Red Hook, Boerum Hill and Park Slope. The NYC Solar America City Partnership will work with local government officials, community-based organizations and the business community to host events and educational workshops.
New and existing solar installations in the Zone will be eligible for free data monitoring systems as well as a variety of other benefits.
