Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Mathematics Instruction
Matthew Goldstein, Chancellor of the City University of New York (and trained mathematician), is pleased to announce the 3rd annual Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Mathematics Instruction. This prestigious award recognizes faculty who have implemented an outstanding instructional method for teaching undergraduate mathematics at CUNY.

CUNY Improving Undergraduate Mathematics Learning (IML) Grants
In the spring of 2009, CUNY Central’s Office of Academic Affairs put forth a request for proposals (RFP) for faculty-led, evidence-based research projects that could lead to better learning in undergraduate mathematics classrooms. In November, 2009, CUNY awarded grants to 10 faculty teams ranging from $32,000 to $86,000; chosen from a competitive pool, these projects involved 27 faculty from CUNY colleges.
The CUNY Math Challenge
Sponsored by the Office of Academic Affairs and the CUNY Institute for Software Design and Development (CISDD), and supported by the Office of the Chancellor, the CUNY Math Challenge seeks to identify and reward CUNY's best math talent from among its matriculated undergraduates.

CUNY Math Online Math Resources
CUNYMath exists to provide students and faculty at CUNY with a central location for information about mathematics and resources that CUNY and the Internet have to offer. CUNYMath includes resources relating to mathematics, math departments, registration, assessment tests, departmental syllabi and more. Its newest resource is a frequently updated CUNYMath blog.
The History of Math at CUNY
CUNY has strong and enduring ties with mathematics: CUNY math majors have gone on to win the Nobel Prize, the Fields Medal, and the National Medal of Science; many of CUNY's most prominent administrators, including former University Dean of Graduate Studies Mina Rees and Chancellor Matthew Goldstein, have backgrounds in mathematics; many of CUNY's most celebrated educators, from 19th century Free Academy graduate and instructor Alfred George Compton to Victor Pan (left) have had their home in CUNY mathematics departments.
