Army Benefits

     “Army ROTC is "unlike any other college course you can take" because we offer leadership and management training that you cannot get anywhere else here at CUNY”

  •   Those who make the decision to participate in ROTC whether civilian or currently enlisted are made into a Non-Deployable status.

ROTC Scholarship Students 

  • All tuition or Room and Board fees are paid for by the ROTC Scholarship.
  • Students additionally receive book payments up to  $1,200  each year.

Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty ( GRFD) Scholarship Students

  • (Applies to Scholarship recipients who has a supplementary source for tuition payment and wants to apply the scholarship towards room and board)
  • Students can receive 100% payment for on campus room and board. For those students living off campus, they will receive payment based on the average room and board costs as determined by the College.

ROTC Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) Cadets (Reserve)

  • Students receive tuition assistance up to  $4500 /year.

(Note: Students must apply 30 days prior to the start of the semester)

  • Optional monthly GI Bill tax free while in college dependent on good standing with their units
  • ROTC cadets receive E-5 drill pay with their unit

ROTC Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) Cadets (National Guard)

  • 100% tuition reimbursement for students with a 2.0 GPA or above
  • Optional monthly GI Bill tax free while in college dependent on good standing with their units
  • ROTC cadets receive E-5 drill pay with their unit

All Contracted Cadets

  • Army ROTC scholarships provide monthly living allowances for each school year. You can earn different amounts depending on your level in the Army ROTC curriculum.
  • First Year - $300
  • Second Year - $350
  • Third Year - $450
  • Fourth Year - $500
     
  • Commissioned Lieutenants upon graduation have the choice of joining the Active duty, National Guard or Reserve forces after graduation (exception for GRFD scholarships)
  • Students become a part of a group and form bonds and friendships with other cadets throughout the country.
