
Founded in 1970, Medgar Evers is CUNY's newest four-year college. Named in honor of the slain civil rights leader Medgar Wiley Evers, the College offers associate and bachelor's degrees. Its mission is to serve the educational, cultural, and social needs of the central Brooklyn community.

To fulfill its mission, Medgar Evers College offers outstanding degree programs in such fields as biology, business, computer science, elementary education, English, environmental studies, liberal studies, marketing, mathematics, nursing, and public administration. It also offers a variety of certificate programs. The general education core program at Medgar Evers emphasizes the classics, pluralism, and diversity.
