Welcome to the New York State Health Insurance Program (NYSHIP). As you may be aware, the Board of Trustees approved CUNY's participation in NYSHIP at its Executive Committee meeting held on July 21, 2008. You are eligible to participate in the program if you are a matriculated doctoral student in a CUNY graduate program and simultaneously employed in one of the following Professional Staff Congress (PSC) represented titles:
Additionally, you must earn at least $4,122 a year working as a Graduate Assistant or as an Adjunct at CUNY. In the Spring 2010 semester, you must earn half the annual minimum ($2,061) to be eligible. Effective December 30, the bi-weekly premium is $7.49 for individual coverage and $58.42 for family coverage. If you are an adjunct employed at a Senior College, you are required to present proof of employment. However, Doctoral Students employed at a Community College, must be transferred to The Graduate Center payroll. Therefore, you will be required to present your appointment letter to the Student Affairs Office at The Graduate Center by either fax: 212-817-1621 or email: healthinsuranceinfo@gc.cuny.edu in order to initiate the transfer. In the event you do not have your appointment letter, please contact the Office of Student Affairs at the Graduate Center immediately at 212-817-7400. Graduate Assistants enrolled in the Engineering Program at City College must contact the Human Resources Department at City College at 212-650-7963. |
Latest NewsEffective January 1, 2011, the employee share of the biweekly premium for medical/dental/vision coverage for enrollees in the Student Employee Health Plan (SEHP) under the New York State Health Insurance Program (NYSHIP) will be: Individual coverage: $7.95 Family coverage: $55.52 The new rate will be deducted automatically from your biweekly paycheck beginning with the paycheck dated January 12, 2012. If your appointment is ending, you should destroy your health insurance and dental plan ID cards. You must complete a NYSHIP termination form to ensure that your records are appropriately updated and that you are sent your COBRA application in a timely manner. Please note that the date your coverage ends may be different from the date printed on your ID card. Expenses incurred after your coverage ends will not be paid unless you enroll for COBRA continuation of coverage.
