University Dean of Continuing Education and Deputy to the Senior University Dean for Academic Affairs
Suri Duitch is the University Dean of Continuing Education and Deputy to the Senior University Dean for Academic Affairs at the City University of New York (CUNY). In that role, she oversees a range of continuing education, workforce development, adult literacy, college transition, and industry sector-based programs throughout the university. During the 2009-2010 year, CUNY had 250,000 enrollments in continuing education, about 140,000 of them in vocational and/or basic education programs. Since coming to CUNY in 2004, Suri has also been Special Assistant to the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Director of Program Development at the CUNY School of Professional Studies, and University Director for Adult and Continuing Education.
Prior to that, she held policy and program oversight positions in New York City government agencies, and worked with a number of nonprofits and private foundations, conducting and publishing public policy research in areas such as arts and economic development, children's health and mental health services, and nonprofit advocacy. Suri has a BA from Columbia College, Columbia University, an MSW from Hunter College-CUNY and a PhD in Urban Education from the CUNY Graduate Center.
